Excursion #1

"Look behind the curtain: theion's crystal battery = sulfur is the future"

During the visit to the Berlin start-up theion GmbH at the Innovation Hub Berlin Adlershof, guests will learn about ground-breaking technologies, including monoclinic crystalline sulphur, a new type of cathode, and lithium metal host anodes that increase energy density. The visit also includes a guided tour that provides a comprehensive overview of the company's pioneering work.

Excursion #2

"The bright side of science: Excursion to BESSY II"

BESSY II is a third-generation synchrotron radiation source that produces extremely brilliant X-ray light. Researchers all over the world can use this light for their experiments. BESSY II is a universal tool for investigating a wide variety of samples, for example solar cells, materials for solar hydrogen production and quantum materials. But proteins for the development of new active substances, meteorites and archaeological finds can also be examined with the soft X-ray light.

As part of the Future Battery Forum, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) is inviting representatives of the battery industry to an exclusive excursion to the large-scale research facility BESSY II on November 24. BESSY II is one of the most modern synchrotron light sources in Europe and, thanks to its extraordinary soft X-ray capabilities, offers unique insights into materials - right down to the atomic level. For battery development, in-operando measurements open up the possibility of observing electrochemical processes during charging and discharging in real time. This enables a detailed understanding of the ageing mechanisms, stability and performance of modern battery materials.

Future battery - innovation from the capital region.

Just a few days later, on November 27, the Battery Day on the HZB Wannsee campus goes one step further and deliberately builds a bridge between research and industry. Guided tours through state-of-the-art tomography laboratories and pouch cell laboratories offer direct links between scientific findings and industrial requirements. This creates a unique platform where research results become tangible and new impulses for the battery development of tomorrow are generated.

We cordially invite you to participate in both events - to gain insights, exchange ideas and build networks - the perfect combination to advance your battery projects.
